One Natural Hair Rule I Break
Use this. Use that. Don’t use that. Don’t use this. Is it just me, or does it seem like every other year, there is a new rule about naturally curly hair? It gets super overwhelming when it seems as though you have to rush to switch out your products for more mainstream products that are supposed to be better for your hair. Now, I will say that I am not against mainstream hair products or newer natural hair products. I use many of them myself; however, I started using a certain hair product that you “are not supposed to use” on my hair again, and my hair has honestly never felt better!
Well, what is it? What is this natural hair rule that I now break? I use hair grease. Yes. You read that correctly. I use hair grease on my naturally curly hair. What led me here, you ask? After returning home last year, due to some health issues, my mother only had hair grease. I was not able to go through all of my boxes and find my “natural hair products”, so I started using her grease. My hair was extremely soft, and my curls were even more defined! I knew that I needed to incorporate this into my hair routine, long term.
I don’t think I will ever stop using grease on my hair again. I absolutely love it! It kind of reminds me of this quote that states, “if it’s not broken, don’t fix it”. I can vouch for that! As stated earlier, I am not against using other mainstream products that have been curated for natural hair. I love those, too! In this head of hair, there is a place for grease and the other mainstream products, as well!
Do you use grease in your hair? If not, what is a product that you enjoy using (grease, oil, shampoo, mouse, etc.)? Leave a comment below! 🥰
