Five Ways to Simplify Your Curly Hair Routine

Time is not on our side, right? Many of us live busy lives. In between work, school, family, hobbies, health, and more, hair sometimes falls on the back burner of priorities. However, it is extremely important to take time to prioritize caring for your naturally curly hair. In today’s blog, I am going to give you five practical ways to simplify your curly hair routine, so that caring for your tresses fits more easily into your busy schedule!

1.) Choose a Realistic Routine

Choosing a realistic routine for washing, deep conditioning, and styling your hair is crucial. If you know you are too busy to wash your hair daily, try scheduling a more realistic routine of washing your hair twice a week instead. If washing your hair weekly is a hassle, try washing twice a month. Everyone’s hair is different and will require different needs. Find one that works best for you and stick to it!

2.) Deep condition and Multitask

One of my favorite things about deep conditioning is that it can be done on the go. If you have to clean your home or if you won’t have additional time throughout the day to relax and deep condition, try deep conditioning while you are in the shower or applying your deep conditioner and doing work around your home!

3.) Low Ponytails/Buns

Low ponytails and low buns are such a simple style that is timeless. If you are in a rush, it will not even take you two minutes to slick your hair back into a nice low pony or a nice low bun. Added bonus for curly bangs!

4.) Work in Larger Sections

I know that many curly girls appreciate working in really small sections to get more defined curls; however, ladies, that is taking up a huge chunk of your time. Try working in larger sections. If you usually work in four sections, try working in three. If you work in three, try two. This will cut your styling time in half and will help you keep you on schedule for your life’s needs!

5.) Do not Fear Combs and Brushes

I know that we have heard to not use combs or brushes in curly hair. I do not follow that rule. Of course, you do not want to rip through your hair, but using hair tools can help cut back on how much time you are spending styling your hair. Also– if you work in larger sections and fear losing definition, using a tool such as a Denman brush will help you achieve more definition.

Conclusion

These are five of my favorite tips to keep my hair routine short, simple, and to the point, while also maintaining the integrity of my curls. Let me know if you plan on trying any of these or if you have tried any of these, in the comment section below!
